The municipality of Dolní Čermná is situated in the sub-mountain area of Orlické hory. It is located in from 398 to 528 metres AMSL (the highest hill is Červený Vrch – Red Hill). The village is spread along (3 km) the brook-valley Čermenka that is flowing into the river Tichá Orlicke under the hill Hůra (519 m AMSL). Southern sunny bank is sandy, northern bank is clayey; in upper parts there are Permian sand-stones. In the upper part of the village that is called Na bahnech (On mires) there is moor covered by sand.
Above the village centre that has always been historical administrative centre (with square, schools, shops, restaurant and post office) there is a pond originally covering an area of 16 hectares. The pond was constructed in mid-15th century. On the elevated bill above the square there is the most important monument – a catholic St. George’s Church that existed already at the beginning of the 14th century (in that period it was wooden).
The current church was built during 16th and 17th century. The village Dolní Čermná is surrounded by woods full of blueberries, raspberries and mushrooms.
The list of historical monuments in the village includes Baroque statues of St. John of Nepomuk, Holy Virgin in Sorrows (1700) and a cross (1792), St. George’s Church (1687-90), tower (1559) with a St. George’s bell (1536), epitaphs of house Blíživský (1585), house Licků (1602) and Master Jetlebíček (16.. (? illegible), Baroque St. Barbara’s Chapel (1742), a sand-stone conciliation cross (first half of the 18th century), an old bridge having inscription 1308 (written in gothic minuscule), a wooden sculpture of Holy Virgin in Sorrows (beginning of the 18th century – kept in a safe). The building of the rectory is from 17th century.Skola
A beautiful and calm area of the pilgrim Virgin Birth Church (1868-75) with 14 chapels of the Calvary and pilgrim house is located 3 km far (a road in wood) in south eastern direction on the hill Mariánská Hora (495 m). All monuments are rimmed by alleys of linden. A breathtaking view in all directions. In West there is the western part of the cliff Třebovské stěny and an igneous hill that bears the ruins of the gothic castle Žampach, further to right there are the hills of the Žamberecká vyvýšenina..
