Petr JelitoPetr Jelito was born in Lanškroun and according to other undocumented information he was born in Dolní Třešňovec where until recently we could find farm named “Wurstgrund”. The year of his birth was not exactly determined and how he get to studies is not known as well. Most likely he studied in Bologna in 1350 and in Perigia and Rome. He became Master and Doctor of Laws.

For three years, he held function of auditor causarum at papal court.

In 1355, he was appointed to position of bishop of Litomyšl where he stayed for four years. During this time in Litomyšl, he tried to eliminate long-standing dispute over nor earned privileges with chapter.

His sympathy was aimed to his birthplace and in 1371, he founded Augustinian monastery in Lanškroun – according to monastery in Litomyšl. After four years in Litomyšl in bishop function Petr Jelito became archbishop of Magdeburg. In this function he stayed until 1380, then he became bishop of Olomouc.

During the dispute between pope Urbane VI. and Klement VII., he was on the side of Klement VII. and markedly supported unseated dean of Vyšehrad Chapter and schismatic Kurát z Veselé.

He died in anathema in Lanškroun on 12th February 1387 and he was buried in grave in the monastery he founded.
