Detailed information (adapted from the source "Vlastivěda Lanškrounska"):
The municipality Horní Třešňovec is situated 4 km to north of the town Lanškroun. The first written reference to the village Třešňovec (Jansdorf) dates back to 1304 and is in the deed by which the king Václav II donated the Lanškroun region to the Zbraslav monastery. As it was usual in the colonisation period, the village was given the name of its locator. In the early 16th century, the border between upper and lower part of the village Třešňovec became more significant. The lower part was usually considered as a part of the town Lanškroun.
The fist deed confirming this situation appears in 1509 – the upper part Horní Třešňovec had its own reeve and limited self-government. The owner of the Lanškroun domain – Vojtěch z Pernštejna – issued a deed (in German Handfest) in favour of the reeve of the village Horní Třešňovec Petr Istrychar regulating some of his duties on 29th August 1509. The reeve Petr Istrychar assigned the serfs belonging to the reeve’s office, including their due payments and due work, to the owner of the domain. In turn, the owner of the domain released the reeve from the duty of annual payment in amount of fourteen groschen, the duty of payments in kind (plece masa) and the duty to raise an ox and a greyhound for the owner. To the reeve’s office belonged four rods (rod is an old Czech surface measure – today it would be 0,064 m2) and a tap room without payment duties. However, the reeve needed a permission of the domain owner to serve beer in the tap room in Dolní Třešňovec, except of one barrel during carnival and wedding. Yet, the reeve had to store armour (armature, sword and crossbow) in the reeve’s house. In case of war, the reeve had to pay contribution of his grounds as would other farmers.
In past, the nationalities in the village Horní Třešňovec were mixed. The village was situated on the language border – the upper part (and settlements Sebranice and Matějkov) was rather Czech and the lower part was rather German. In thirties, the Czechs formed a third of the total population (more than 900 inhabitants). The rate of catholic and evangelic inhabitants was similar (2:1).
The village Horní Třešňovec remained a part of the Lanškroun region until the end of feudalism. In 1853 the first wave of emigration to America took place in the village Třešňovec (as well as in villages Nepomuky and Ostrov).
The school in the village Horní Třešňovec was established in 1783. The school building for three grades (taught in one classroom) was built in 1877. Since 1919 there was a school for the Czech minority. Today, the village has nursery school and grammar school (two grades are thought in one classroom).Obec
The associations of the village Horní Třešňovec were represented by the brigade of voluntary firemen (founded in 1886) whose members were mainly German speaking inhabitants. The association "Národní dům" (National House – founded in 1934) was organised by Czech inhabitants who raised funds for the construction of the association house from minority organisations, e.g. Národní dům (National House), Česká menšina (Czech Minority) and Národní jednota severočeská (National Unity of Northern Bohemia). In the house were held various social events (parties, shows) and a restaurant and a savings bank were opened here. The activities of the association were interrupted by the annex of the village to Sudetenland in 1938. The activities of the association were again involuntary in ended in 1951. The history of association of huntsmen dates back to 1950’s. A huntsmen company Třešňovské háje (Třešňov woods) was founded in 1992. Since 1950’s there has been Gymnastic club Sokol and the local organisation of the Red Cross (founded in 1954).
In the village there is not only the restored brigade of voluntary firemen, but also branches of the Czech union of breeders, gardeners and bee-keepers, and since 2000 an organisation of pensioners and an organisation of women (transformed from the former Union of women that was active between 1954 and 1994).
The list of local historical monuments includes the Holy Virgin Ascension Church (1869-70), evangelic chapel (1953-54) and a sand-stone sculpture Calvary in front of the house no. 213 in the lower part of the village. The important buildings of the folk architecture include the farmhouse no. 105 and no. 102 (with preserved granary) and museum of fire brigade in the house no. 91.
In village Horní Třešňovec has its seat the company Gufero Production s.r.o. (employing 35 persons) and several small businesses, e.g. the car paint shop Jan Švestka and the farm Farma Jirásek.
Today, the population of the village Horní Třešňovec is 597. There are 147 first residences (the total number of houses is 183).
